Professor Alec Tzannes, Dean Faculty of Built Environment, UNSW congratulates Deo Prasad, who has been awarded the title of Scientia Professor:

'I am sure you will all join me in congratulating Deo on this magnificent achievement. Deo is the first person in Built Environment to be honored with the title Scientia Professor, making this a significant accomplishment not only for himself but for the Faculty.

The Scientia Professor title is a special category of Professor that recognises outstanding research performance. The award is based on recognition of past research eminence and ongoing research and/or outstanding research stature. The title is only awarded to a small percentage of professors to preserve the titles reputation and distinction for true international eminence in research.

The Scientia Professor title is particularly difficult to achieve from the perspective of Built Environment disciplines. The award usually favours scientific and medical fields due to criteria around research impact on society and the high level of research funding. In this context, Deo's success is particulalry significant and will greatly enhance our standing as a faculty and the Low Carbon Living CRC’s standing in the community.

Congratulations once again to Deo.'
