RP1017e1: Validating and improving the BASIX energy assessment tool for low-carbon dwellings - Phase 2

Research strategies will comprise:

1. Data collection of electricity and gas consumption, building characteristics, and socio-demographic information from both BASIX and non-BASIX residential buildings.

a) Installation of metering devices to measure different types of energy consumption in dwellings by third party contractors.
b) Installation of temperature sensors by project researchers in homes covering the living area and one bedroom.
c) Data collection of building characteristics and social-demographic data through house visit and interviews.
d) Data collection through blower door test of a subset of dwellings.
e) Establishment of digital databases to facilitate energy performance modelling and analysis.

2. Post-occupancy energy performance analysis of BASIX and non-BASIX dwellings.

3. RP1017 Phase 2 project report to inform NSW OEH policy and rating tools.
