RP2018: Retrofitting Urban Precincts to Create Low Carbon Communities

Project leader name:
Roger Swinbourne
Project status:
Current
Project period:
03/2015 to 03/2016

This research seeks to identify the opportunities and blockages to the retrofitting of low carbon precincts through a living laboratory approach (using Broadway precinct in Sydney). It will then identify widely applicable typologies that may enable such a transition to be applied to any precinct.

Outputs of the project will include an urban transition manual and toolkit which will assist future transition teams to create successful low carbon infrastructure. The research will be include distinct phases:

  • Phase one will be focus on setting the context and baselines for the research and the transition of the precinct into a Living Laboratory.
  • Subsequent phases will be focus on option and scenario development and documentation of transition pathways.
